Treat others the way you want to be treated. Please be respectful to all members of One Star Away, and I can assure that they will respect you back. OOC fighting is not tolerated here, so if someone is making you feel uncomfortable, please let a staff member know immediately. If you don't like someone, just don't talk to them. Let's try to keep our atmosphere peaceful and friendly, please! c:
As well as respecting your fellow members, please be kind to staff. I know we can seem a bit nitpicky some times, telling you not to use chatspeak or to make your characters weaker. But we're just trying to make sure that One Star Away runs smoothly, and that we don't fall into anarchy. eue If a staff member tells you to do something, please make things easier for everyone by listening to them and not arguing. (Don't worry, we probably won't tell you to do something silly like the macarena. Probably.)

We maintain a PG-13 rating here at One Star Away, so swearing is allowed, but at least as far as OOC goes, don't swear over-excessively to the point where it's just annoying. Stay away from sensitive topics (politics, religion, sexuality, ect.), but if you seek a mature discussion about one such topic, we have a sub-board for our less faint-hearted members in our OOC category.

We have bi-monthly activity checks and require that all members, even those who have just joined, post on them. Those who haven't posted will be deleted, although if deleted, you may return, providing you try to be more active next time. If you've decided to leave or are going on vacation/taking a hiatus/whatever, please, please, please let us know via the checking out board.

ya cuz u no talkin lyke dis just kils brane sells!!!!1!! We don't mind the common stuff, brb and gtg and lol and all that, and we don't expect your punctuation and capitalization to be 100% correct on the c-box, but refusing to spell out your "you"s and "are"s just gets annoying. ]: Don't do it.
[/li][li] a d v e r t i s i n g
We have a sub-board just for advertising, and that's the only place where adverts belong. Please don't post ad threads anywhere else on the forum, the c-box, or signatures.
[/li][li] a v a t a r s & s i g n a t u r e s
Avatars can be no more than 110x300 pixels, and signatures can be no more than 450x200 pixels. We encourage site-related signatures, but, of course, it's not mandatory.

One Star Away is intended for roleplayers who reach an intermediate "literate" level or higher. But if you feel you're not quite there yet but still want to go for it, we're always open to helping members, assuming you don't mind some polite critique. Basically, just write stuff that would make your English teacher happy. Correct grammar, description, ect.
[/li][li] w o r d m i n i m u m
We request quality, but also a little bit of quantity, so that people role-playing with you have enough to respond to. Therefore, we require a word minimum of 250 words, which is just around two or three good paragraphs. If you need help getting longer posts, you might want to add more description, ramble about your character's feelings, or describe the scenery.
[/li][li] g e n e r a l
All of those general, classic common role-play courtesy rules apply. No godmoding (having an all-powerful/perfect character), powerplaying (controlling someone else's characters without their consent), or metagaming (using OOC knowledge IC).
[/li][li] p g - 1 3
Once again, One Star Away maintains a PG-13 rating. Therefore, swearing is all right, but try not to be overly graphic when it comes to violence, mating, and birthing. If you really want to go for the graphic stuff though, please put "[M]" (for mature) in your thread title so that our younger and/or more faint-hearted members know that's not safe territory.
[/li][li] t a g g i n g
On this note, you should probably tag your threads as [public] or [private], mostly if you have arranged a private RP with someone, otherwise any old member might barge in.
[/li][li] p o v & t e n s e
Please keep all in character role-play posts third person and in past tense. If everyone keeps to this point of view and tense, it makes things a lot more fluid and easy to understand. c:

Fighting is welcome, but you may not kill another person's character unless that person has actually planned out a death with you. Fighting for pack positions will be refereed by at least one staff member.
[/li][li] l i q u i d t i m e
Liquid time is allowed at One Star Away, meaning one character can be in multiple threads at once. Of course, be responsible, and don't have a hundred threads going at once. eue
[/blockquote]&! CHARACTERS
[/li][li] l i m i t
There is no character limit, as long as you keep your character count to as many as you can comfortably play without neglecting characters. If I feel too much of this is happening, I'll probably put on a limit.
[/li][li] a l l o w e d
Being a fantasy wolf role-play, we allow some character aspects that might otherwise be considered unnatural. If used responsibly, the following are allowed: odd colors, wings, and powers. As far as odd colors go, most things work, just try not to be completely crazy. We try to limit the winged wolf population, so in order to make a winged wolf, you must buy that privilege from the shop.
[/li][li] p o w e r s
When accepting character bios, we pay special attention to powers. Each character is allowed only one power. Characters with powers that are deemed too strong will not be accepted until the power is watered down. If you think your power could have the potential to kill or seriously injure another wolf, it's probably too strong. Your character shouldn't be able to control an element, but it's okay if he/she controls an aspect of that element. Unique and original powers are encouraged, even if they might not seem all that useful at first.

The base species used on One Star Away is the gray wolf. So, technically, every character here is a gray wolf. Yeah, it seems bland, but keep in mind that you have a lot of freedom when it comes to playing around with your wolf's appearance. Every color is at your disposal, and you're free to play around with your wolf's build as you please. Maybe your wolf's ears are smaller than usual, his fur shorter than average, her legs especially long. Have fun with it, and be creative. c:

You can't create a pup; all characters must be at least two years of age. However, check the circle of life board when a new litter is in; the pups will be needing roleplayers!
[/blockquote]&! LIFE AND DEATH
[/li][li] b i r t h i n g & b r e e d i n g
Breeding is allowed in winter and summer. Birthing is allowed in spring and fall. After breeding, fill out the life form in the Circle of Life board. The female remains pregnant for four real weeks. The pups stay in the den for two weeks after that. After leaving the den, the pups are officially weaned and start to discover their powers.
[/li][li] a g e i n g
Pups become adolescent at one year of age and adults at two. Once a wolf is two, he/she can mate and is expected to participate in pack activities. At age two, wolves may have fully mastered their powers. A wolf can choose to retire and become an elder starting at six, and should die by ten. You are expected to age your wolf up a year in the season they were born. (ie. If your 3-year-old wolf was born in October, he will turn 4 when we hit fall in the role-play.)
[/li][li] d e a t h s
If you want to get rid of a character, you can kill him/her off by filling out the death form in the Circle of Life board. Your character should die somehow, whether he's murdered, becomes ill, dies of old age, or just falls off a cliff. You should have a thread where you role-play out the death, even if it just has one post.
[/li][li] l i t t e r s
After you've posted your life form, I'll reply with information on each pup. The adoption of the pups will take place on that thread. The parents' role-players get first priority for choosing, and can decide how they want to adopt out the rest of the pups, whether it's first-come-first-serve or holding auditions. Any pups that are not adopted out will be stillborn.
