It was early morning and the sky was unbelievably blue, the sun shining down. But in this land there was no real warmth coming from its rays. The forest were it smiled apone was covered in deep snow and it was still very still. All the small critters had yet to come up from the burrows, but one great beast was up and he stood out in the whiteness like a demon stands out in a crowed of angels.
A great black wolf lay on a small snow mound that looked down a slop and into a vally bellow. Behind him a snow den had been dug out of a large drift. This was were this wolf had made a small home for him self, he had traviled far from other lands far off past the highrison, and behond the next and the next.
His life had always been hell, it showed over his body, the mass of scars, one ear tattered and torn the other missing, his strong powerful body, his dark dead eyes, the blankness of his expression it all showed that his life had been nothing but war. It had recently reached a climax and he had lost ever thing that was dear to him, so he had left he had nothing left there but pain.
But in this place he was at peace, he loved snow and the landscape it settled in. its pureness, its playful sense of humour, hiding dips and trenches for those wondering it to fall over in. its peaceful nacher the cold censing brezs. The sound of a paw stepping onto its serifs all of it he loved. He also respected it, as if you travailed to the north you would find the glacier were its sense of humour became curle and evil, it would hide deadly ice wholes, wind blow in blinding snow storms in a heart beat.
Nacher had a happy side and a cruel side.
The wolf breath rose in front of it as he thought. He had lived here well, his winter coat was more then enough to handle the cold, the rain deer, snow hair, lemmings and fox’s provide good eating for him and he could catch them well enough, he had to be a bit clever as he stood out so much but he managed all right. He was in good health and was happy which was a big deal for him.
Triple Eight hadn’t been happy for a long time. He was getting a little lonely he had had now enough time to think, he wanted to warm up to others more then he use to now, try and move on from the wolf he had become, there was no need for him to be the way he had been now he was no longer under threat, and was out from under the shadow of his past. He looked up at the blue sky and then back down at the slop, his ear flicked and he starched a bit.
Should he travail again?

this is text. "this is speech." this is thought. this is telepathy.
Brother, it's cold.
Hush, Jupiter. We shall soon be in warmer climes.
Of course, but when?
When the Great Wolf deems it so.
... Ah...
Four wolves, all with fur of deepest black, trudged through the snow, paw over freezing paw. The largest of the four, Mercury, led the way with little difficulty, creating a trench for the remaining three to travel in. Thus, they were reasonably free of white snow clinging to their fur. The second in line, Mars, was busy placating Jupiter, the youngest and the last in line. Saturn, the eldest, simply strode along behind Mars whilst listening to his brothers speak to each other in their special way. Slowly and deliberately, they made their way through the tundra's unforgiving landscape, having stopped admiring the beauty of the snow long ago.
So--
"I said HUSH, Jupiter."
Mars said the last part out loud, his deep voice resonating within the trench but not traveling much farther. Mercury snickered - he was always pestering Jupiter about his weakness, and the childlike behavior (and earned reprimand) was pleasing to him. Mars growled, sensing Mercury's praise for such a behavior, and thus the conversation ended.
After a while, when the snow became more shallow, Mercury began to slow. Jupiter, who had not been paying attention and instead preferring to step precisely in his older brother's pawprints, walked headfirst into Saturn's rear. The blind wolf was none too pleased, and turned to snap at the young wolf. His jaws did not clamp down, however, and the incident was left without a punishment. Instead, Saturn turned back to Mercury, who had now come to a complete stop. Saturn sensed Mars jump out of the trench they had dug and go on by himself.
Mars, where are you--
There is someone ahead, Saturn.
Mercury had taken it upon himself to answer his "handicapped" elder brother, but the latter was not comforted. Mars had a nasty temper hidden inside him, perhaps even more vicious than Mercury, who was known for his savagery. Hopefully Mars would not give away their intentions so quickly...
---
Mars approached the stranger with no air of caution; he was too confident for that, both of himself and of his brothers. He also did not give off any inclination of hostility, because they had not even met this wolf and thus did not know his intentions. In which case, civilized conversation was in order, at least until they knew this male's... denomination.
"Good day, stranger."
He dipped his head slightly, but his words were far from friendly. They were void of any emotion, as if he were an empty shell. That was the way he liked it - keep them guessing until he was sure he knew what to do with them.
Careful, Mars.
Mercury again. He had a snarl in his thoughts, and Mars knew why. The stranger looked as if he had fought many battles - and won most of them. Better to be careful...

Eight had been still looking up at the hevens when he had heard a voice deep, it had been muffled, he stayed laying but looked out for were it was came from. Then he saw them four massive wolves one even bigger then him self, which was quite something. Eight stayed laying but lifted his head watching them face blank eyes dead. They had noticed him and the one at the front had broken away and aproched him. There was a sureness in his stride that showed eight clearly he was the leader of the four. Also there was no threat in his stride ither, so Eight got up into a sitting posision to be proper, ears up tail up but relaxsed he would come at this the same as the wolf infront of him. No treat willing to talk. But at the same time would show him self as what he was, no push over, not the submissive sort. He wasn’t looking for truble nore did he want any, but at the same time if this was going to be a row over territory he wasn’t going to hand his little clearing over with out a fight.
Eight noticed the wolf’s eyes Red, Eight had only kown a paw full of critters with eyes like that, most of them he hadn’t been the nicest of creachers, not that he juged the wolf on that, but he made a note of it. He looked to the other three, the largest one was massive bigger then Eight him self, then one that looked older and was blind, then a one that looked to be the youngest all big. He noted them with out reachion and his unreadabal look intact. He had face four one his own in the past, but not all quite to this size, but size was not ever thing and he wasn’t worried in any form. In his own mind he was sure of his own ablitys and didn’t dout his chance and on the other side of that, he didn’t fear death, and he never had done, and even more so now.
"Good day, stranger."
The wolf inclind his head. There was no emoission in his voice it was unreadabal really. Eight returned the nod.
“that it is, what can I do for you “, he said his own deep gravily voice ringing out over the ice also unreadabal but again no aggression nore friendly under tone to it. it had been a awile since he had heard him self talk to another. As always his voice showed the same usage as his body, hard and harsh. It was clear by the way the four were and the way the red eyed one had walked over to him that they wernt looking for friendly chit chat, more of the sort straite to bissnes so eight decided to follow that. he wasn’t looking for truble at the moment, but he wouldn’t mind a talk with a fellow wolf, it had been a very long time.

this is text. "this is speech." this is thought. this is telepathy.
"That it is. What can I do for you?"
The fool wants to know what he can do for us.
Mars, don't.
Whilst conversing with his eldest brother through telepathy, Mars could sense both Mercury and Jupiter tugging on their thoughts. It was all a matter of feeling their emotions really. Jupiter was curious as always, but Mars could sense Mercury's muscles tensing. The leader of the small pack knew that the big brute was just barely hanging onto his sanity. It was actually surprising that he had stayed behind this long. With an irritated look on his face, Mars turned his head towards the single-file line of black wolves and glared at the larger of his brothers. The feeling of bloodlust suddenly faded as Mercury inclined his head, looking quite annoyed.
Do NOT question me, Mercury.
With that, the red-eyed wolf turned back to the stranger, a convincing smile curling his muzzle. It looked real - it even felt real. But in Mars' black heart he was chomping at the bit, wanting to know what all four of them were thinking - whether or not this stranger was worthy of remaining alive. But not yet. That was not the question for the moment. For now, the greater good of the earth was his priority.
"Ah, yes, well... I don't suppose you know if there are packlands around here? We were told that a great number of wolves lived in this region, but we have yet to see anyone but yourself."
While he spoke, Mars appraised the stranger with an expert eye. He was not much larger than himself - perhaps even smaller by a tiny amount. But he was most definitely at least shorter than Mercury, if not weaker. And yet the muscles beneath the fur were large enough to convince him that even his brother would have his paws full with this one. There was a warrior's soul beneath those empty eyes - those so obviously intelligent eyes that were attempting to hide the brute's true emotions. So obvious... and yet...
It was quite excellent, to have found a wolf so physically worthy. So many weaklings had been found - and crushed beneath their paws - along the way.
Suddenly, he realized that no formal introductions had been made. Not that it mattered. Names were private, known only to those who needed to remember them. This wolf would no doubt continue on his way unhurt, but once they reached the packs formerly known as Polaris... there would be hell on earth. If this wolf knew where it was, and was traveling there, only then would he need to worry about how his funeral would be presided over... because then he would be in the way of the greater good set forth by the Great Wolf. And no one stands in the way of the Illustrious One.
Jupiter.
Ah... er... yes?
Relax.
... Yes.

Eight watched as the wolf suddenly looked at his fellow wolves with a look of irrtaion on his face, that was strange was that about him self or them, If it was them what was that even for they hadn’t said any thing, or done any thing but wait. Eight looked past if for now, these wolves were giving him a bad vib for some reason, but he had promised him self to try and become lighter and less aggressive in life, but that didn’t mean he would trust or be friends instently. He had been hurt to many times for that to happen.
"Ah, yes, well... I don't suppose you know if there are packlands around here? We were told that a great number of wolves lived in this region, but we have yet to see anyone but yourself."
He was smiling it looked real but still something was nagging at eight something that unsettled him, but again he had no reason to act any different and he wouldn’t be the one to start any thing ither. Smiling was not eights thing even now, it just wasn’t in him.
“sadly I don’t, im new to these lands my self, I have traviled far from the east, and have yet to travil behond the snow and ice”, he said nodding. Instead of smiling he relaxsed his compersor to a bit more friendly and less formal, but he didn’t lower his readiness to act.
These wolves must be related by the markings on there forheads and there colours, the old one was maybe a farther of the other three maybe, he looked very old and on a closer look was blind. Blindess now that was a curse he never wanted to face, the thought was frightening.
His exspreion was still as hard and unreadbal as ever it hadn’t chanced since they had started there chat.
“I have found a fondness for this place, it seems to fit me quite well that is why I have yet to move on”, Eight said trying to make up for the no smile, he felt like if they were being friendly he might as well repay the favour, and the infomasion was nothing they could use agest him. And it wasn’t show any weakness.
Eight cort the sight of snow clouds starting to softly move over head, no snow storm just a snow shower, eight didn’t mind he enjoyed the snow and enjoyed watching it softly fall it was strangle soothing to him.

this is text. "this is speech." this is thought. this is telepathy.
Mars only half listened as the stranger explained himself. The smile remained, but inside, he was quite annoyed. He hadn't asked for the wolf's life story - just whether or not there was packlands nearby. A simple "no" would have sufficed, but it was apparently too late to specify that all he wanted was an answer... not an explanation. In any case, the muscled vagabond seemed to have relaxed somewhat. Good, Mars thought, and was mentally pushed by Mercury. The feeling of anticipation from his brother washed over him again, but he dared not turn for a second time. With Mercury, it was all "kill, kill, kill." Unlike Saturn, the eldest of the four, Mars would not tolerate it, as unfortunate and uncontrollable as the condition was. Later, whether this wolf survived or not, Mars would beat some sense into his littermate.
"Oh. Well that's too bad. I was hoping you could give me a direction. No harm done, though. We'll just have to..."
Suddenly Mars hesitated. He had first intended to tell the stranger that they'd just have to keep going, but perhaps another option had presented itself. He in turn mentally presented it to his brothers, all of whom agreed, albeit reluctantly.
"Actually... Perhaps you would like to join us? There's safety in numbers... And I've heard that one of the packs we're looking for is seeking another Alpha. With that build you'd be a good candidate."
At that very moment, Mars felt another's fur brush against him, and by the warmth of it, he already knew who it was. Mercury had finally stepped forward, leaving Saturn with Jupiter. He towered over the stranger, his black eyes gleaming in the light reflected by the snow. He was frowning, appraising the scarred wolf with obvious suspicion. Mars sighed with exasperation, the smile gone due to the disappointment in the commitment of his brother.
"Ah... Pardon... This is my littermate, Mercury."
"Pleasure."
There was little real pleasure in Mercury's voice - more like disdain for the stranger. Mars shot him an angry look, but he didn't notice. He was too busy thinking that they would be much better off maintaining secrecy.
Which meant killing early witnesses...
"Don't you DARE."
"Why not? We are unbeatable. He is not. Why should we let this scum live?"
"... I want to see what he does with the knowledge I gave him. Besides, the Great Wolf chooses the infinitely damned, not us. We do not yet know his position."

"Oh. Well that's too bad. I was hoping you could give me a direction. No harm done, though. We'll just have to..."
Eight nodded expecting them to head off, with there journey when the wolfs hesitation brought his attention back to what he would say next.
"Actually... Perhaps you would like to join us? There's safety in numbers... And I've heard that one of the packs we're looking for is seeking another Alpha. With that build you'd be a good candidate."
Now it was eights turn to hesitate, now that was a proposal, one he hadn’t been expecting. Packs eals were that needed a new leader, maybe that would be a nice fresh start, new pack new lands a new chance to do some good for a pack and not fail like he had done. Eight eyes drifted from the wolf in front of him and looked to the den he had made him self and the forest around him, he had fallen for the snow and the land he was in but, it wasn’t enough the fighter that was born into him was desperate to leave and find new things.
He turned back to the wolves in front of him, the largest of the pack had joined the first one. Safety in numbers hay? He thought as he looked at them all. There was something under that wolves proposal he knew that, as there was a strange air about this lot. He looked up at the giant of a wolf, he reminded him of a wolf he had hated with ever fibre of his being. Darcia from the old lands he had come from. Only difference between them was that this guy was black and the other had been white, until Eights old back had been able to bring it down and turned it to crimson, that wolf had been made by demons of those lands, it had been unachrly strong and powerful. But he wouldn’t judge this wolf on that, it was only a similarity nothing more.
Eight could tell by the wolfs gaze he wasn’t happy with the ider of Eight joining them, Eight didn’t much care what this one felt about it. Eight matched his eyes, his own face not changing it remand hard and unreadable like his eyes, dead and empty.
"Ah... Pardon... This is my littermate, Mercury."
"Pleasure."
There was no pleaser in that tone. But Eight nodded at the wolf all the same. “and im Triple Eight”. Eight said shortly.
He looked back at the first wolf making up his mind.
“Yeah sounds good, time hit the road again, and that pack sounds interesting”, he said nodding again. He stod up showing his own build off with out having to do any stupid poses his body spoke for it self. He shock the snow that was clinging to his under side off. And looked to the snow clouds drifting lazerly over head.
Eights eyes traviled over the to behind again then over the big wolf Mercury. He lingered on him for a moment, this wolf had a dark side to him, he gave of a vibe his eyes and those of his brother next to him were those of killers they all shered that, that cold hard bite to them. Didn’t mean that they were built to be evil, but eight noted that down. He would stay on his guard around this group.
“This pack, could you tell me more”, eight said looking back at the first. “and what do I call you by”, he added he had told them his name he knew one of theres, he might as well learn the rest.
